Auditions will take place at the Georgia State Sports Arena located at 125 Decatur Street, Atlanta, GA 30303. Upon arrival, potential members will report to the lobby located on the 3rd floor – at the top of the escalator.
Potential members, returning and new, must pay a non-refundable audition fee of $25.00. Cash or checks (made out to GSU Bands) are accepted.
Potential members should bring appropriate playing implements—-snare drum sticks, tenor drum mallets/sticks, bass drum mallets. Additionally, because the number of those auditioning could exceed the amount of instruments owned by the Panther Band, we ask those auditioning for snare drum and/or tenor drums to please bring your own instruments if possible. It is not necessary to bring bass drums or field cymbals. Potential members should also bring proof of college or university acceptance (acceptance letter or university student identification card) and a letter of recommendation from your high school band director.
Evaluations take place in an ensemble setting. However, you should also expect to demonstrate your skills individually. Potential members are evaluated on their consistency in technique and sound quality as well as tempo control and rhythmic accuracy.
You are urged to familiarize yourself with the music materials found in the audition packet.
